ZAG Technical Services Reveals How to Strengthen Cybersecurity; Greg Gatzke Comments
SAN JOSE, CA - As many of us gear up for spooky season, ZAG Technical Services is looking to draw the industry’s attention to a topic that could save us from actual scares: cybersecurity. Starting October 1, the company recognized Cybersecurity Awareness Month with the introduction of an insightful infographic highlighting the cost of cybercrime.
“Cybersecurity is not just a buzzword, it’s a real risk to business performance, and economic security is everyone’s responsibility, at home, at work, and on the go,” said Greg Gatzke, President, ZAG Technical Services. “Understanding risk is the first step toward managing risk, and we believe education is a critical piece of the puzzle as you work toward protecting your business.”
The President of the United States and Congress declared October Cybersecurity Awareness Month back in 2004 to gain attention for cybersecurity threats, a release stated. According to data, cybercrimes have risen 31 percent, and IBM has reported the average data breach costs businesses $4.35 million in lost business and fines.
With these increasing threats, ZAG is informing individuals and companies about the best practices they can adopt to mitigate risks and costs through its Understand Your Risk, Outsmart Cybercriminals infographic.
The company reports that agribusinesses throughout the supply chain are at risk of becoming a target and impacting customers, buyers, and other vendors. To spread the knowledge and keep others safe, ZAG has provided four initial actionable steps you can take to improve the security of your information, including:
- Enable multifactor authentication
- Use strong passwords and update them regularly
- Recognize and report phishing attempts
- Regularly update software, applications, and workstations
