Publix Announces First Store in Kentucky; Todd Jones Comments
LAKELAND, FL - Publix has continued to strategically build out its geographical footprint in recent months, unveiling the pivotal expansion of its Greenwise Market banner along the way. Now, the retailer is staking its claim to a new market, as it announced it has signed a lease to bring its first Publix Supermarket to the state of Kentucky.
“Being company owners, Publix associates are committed to providing the highest level of service and quality products to exceed our customers’ expectations,” said Publix Chief Executive Officer Todd Jones. “Moving into Kentucky is a natural progression for our company, and we are excited to serve and be a part of this vibrant community.”
According to a press release, Kentucky will mark the company’s eighth state of operation. The grand opening date has not yet been determined and will depend on several factors including permitting and completion of the store’s construction. As of now, the location is expected to open during the fourth quarter of 2023.
The new 55,702-square-foot Kentucky store will be located in Louisville at the northwest corner of Terra Crossing Boulevard and Old Henry Road in Jefferson County, in the Terra Crossing shopping center adjacent to Publix Liquors, the first located outside the state of Florida.
