WENATCHEE, WA - Excitement is ramping up surrounding the beginning of Stemilt’s new apple crop. The fresh fruit purveyor shared this joy at the 2022 Apple Blossom Festival Stemilt Grand Parade on May 7, where it highlighted the beginning of its new apple crop as well as its beloved A Half Mile Closer to the Moon® cherries.

“The Stemilt Grand Parade was the finale to a wonderful Washington State Apple Blossom Festival in Wenatchee, Washington, this past weekend,” said Brianna Shales, Marketing Director. “It was the 19^th year that Stemilt was the sponsor of the event and this year, the Mathison family continued in the tradition of driving the Stemilt VW Ladybug and Model T down Wenatchee Ave. It was good to get back to our roots during this year’s perfectly themed festival. Every year, the beginning of May signals the start of a new apple crop through bloom, and this long-standing community celebration. It’s an honor for Stemilt to be part of it!”

In full celebration of the festival, fourth-generation cherry grower Kyle Mathison, the mastermind behind Stemilt’s A Half Mile Closer to the Moon cherries, sported his signature overalls on a 1926 Ford Model-T while Stemilt President West Mathison took the wheel of the classic Stemilt Volkswagen Ladybug.

“The Apple Blossom Festival is a beloved spring event celebrated by many Washingtonians and the Wenatchee Valley community,” the company stated in a recent release. “Our founding family had a blast sharing the mystique of A Half Mile Closer to the Moon cherries with the community and celebrating the beginning of the new apple crop.”

This is the 103^rd year of the Apple Blossom Parade, during which bands from the Northwest join with colorful floats and horseback performances to put on one of Washington’s grandest events.
