Eyeing Expansion, Sun World Adds Grape Marketer Licensees in Peru, South Africa, and Australia
BAKERSFIELD, CA – Setting its sights on expanding further into the international market, Sun World Innovations, the fruit breeding, technology, and licensing business unit of Sun World International LLC, appointed three new grape marketer licensees—T&G Global in Peru, LCS Exports in South America, and FruitMaster in Australia—to distribute the company’s proprietary grapes.
The three appointees further expand Sun World’s global grape presence, which now amounts to 41 licensed grape marketers, according to a company press release.
According to Vice President of Licensing Garth Swinburn, the move assures retailers of continued access to a full line of prominent Sun World varietal brands like Midnight Beauty®, Scarlotta Seedless®, Adora Seedless®, and AutumnCrisp®.
T&G is New Zealand’s largest fruit and vegetable exporter and has been active in Peru since 2003, working with a trading business previously known as Delica. The company recently rebranded—changing from Turners and Growers to T&G Global. The project will be headed up by Nick Fitzpatrick, GM Americas and Table Grape Category for the Group.
LCS Exports is a newly-formed company made up of Core Fruit and Le Roux Fruit, two leading South African grower-exporters whose producer-owners have been longstanding licensed producers of Sun World variety grapes. Core fruit is one of the country’s largest fruit exporters with a well-diversified customer-base in 63 countries. The Le Roux Group is a vertically-integrated grower-exporter marketing grapes and stone fruit produced on more than a dozen farms. The joint venture will be managed by Core Grape Business Head Jean Smith and Le Roux Marketing General Manager Gerhard Robbertze.
FruitMaster is the product of a recent merger between two pre-existing Sun World marketer licensees—Perfection Fresh Australia and FruitMaster. The newly integrated business combines agribusiness and fruit marketing expertise, strategically-situated cold storage and packing facilities, and a network of licensed growers—many located in Australia’s Sunraysia region. The company is managed by Director and CEO Joe Lanteri.
These new licensees add to Sun World’s network of more than 1,400 producers and marketing company’s across the world’s major fruit-growing regions. The company promises to continue developing and supplying a wide range of fresh grapes with extraordinary characteristics like enhanced flavor, distinctive taste, larger berries and clusters, extended ripening times and availability, and increased productivity.
