Jason's Deli's Kim Andreason Pulls Back the Curtain
BEAUMONT, TX - The fresh produce industry is rich with vibrant personalities, deep knowledge and experience, and an endless amount of passion and grit. Those leaders and fresh faces that we see at shows, in stories, and across negotiating tables and dinner tables are some of the most committed and dedicated folks I have ever met.
In a recent article, Mike Roberts from Harps Food Stores joined me to share some of the fun and passionate details that make him who he is. I was so inspired by his answers that I thought we could make those questions into a story series with some of our great industry friends.
Please join me in learning a little bit more about the amazing Kim Andreason, Director of Produce at Jason's Deli. This woman has a gravity and a smile that can warm your heart from across the room. Kim, thanks for opening up with me.
What is one thing not many produce people may know about you?

I grew up in a teeny-tiny town in Illinois—my graduating class had only 13 people! Basically, everyone knew everything about everyone—there were no secrets there!
Who was one person who had an enormous influence on you coming up? And how did they impact you?
It wasn’t just one person; it was a whole crew of amazing produce pros! Being part of the Southeast Produce Council’s Board and Women of Southern Roots has been personally and professionally inspiring. They’ve constantly pushed me out of my comfort zone while always cheering me on.
Can you share some words to live by for those currently in growth moments?
Keep growing. Network like it’s your full-time job. Seriously, don’t be shy about reaching out. Chances are, someone else has been through exactly what you’re facing. Oh, and say “yes” to things that make you uncomfortable. Growth happens outside the comfort zone!

What is it about produce that will always make you smile?
The people. Produce people are the best. Passionate, real, and just plain fun to be around!
What keeps you up at night?
Logistics, rising prices, and my grandbabies—when we are lucky enough to have them. Even when they’re cranky, they’re still way cuter than logistics!
Kim, I look forward to the next time we can catch up in person. Thank you to those who checked out this story. I hope you get to know Kim a little bit better as well.
