Lindsay Martinez Gives Lowdown on Calavo Growers Newest Innovations and Plans at International Fresh Produce Association
SANTA PAULA, CA - “What’s in a name? That which we call an avocado, by any other word would taste as sweet.” William Shakespeare may not have said those exact words, but I’m sure he would be willing to make a few adjustments if he saw what Calavo Growers has up its sleeves. As we go over our packing list one last time, Lindsay Martinez, Corporate Marketing Manager, gives me the lowdown on what industry members can experience at the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show.
“We have plenty of new things going on in our booth this year, including our avocados featuring pink PLUs this October to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” shares Lindsay. “The bright pink stickered fruit will be on display along with our complete line of conventional organic, Fair Trade, and bagged avocados. We will also be showcasing our fresh tomatoes and Hawaiian papaya in our fresh displays.”
Avocados, tomatoes, and papayas will hit that delicious, fruit-packed spot your shoppers are looking to fill. Whether it’s making their own papaya guacamole or fresh-chopped salsa to accompany their mains, these categories continue to draw consumers in through their versatility and Calavo’s convenience.
And speaking of convenience, Calavo is aiming to bring more excitement to the prepared side of business with a product launch and a snazzy fresh look.
“We are thrilled to launch the fresh new look of our AvoFresco brand of guacamole, including new convenient squeeze pouches. These are just the first of many exciting products to come under the AvoFresco line,” continues Lindsay. “We also have some very exciting and innovative products that we can’t wait to share with the industry such as ‘ready to bake,’ ‘air fryer ready,’ and ‘skillet ready’ lines; fruit and veggies blends that are complete with seasonings; and bulk fruit and vegetable foodservice offerings. Preparing delicious food is easier than ever!”
Time-strapped shoppers will be reaching with vigor within your value-added sections when they spy the new products. However, I know for certain that industry members will be just as eager to see these products first for themselves. Luckily for them, they get to learn about these SKUs, more product innovations, upcoming growth plans, and more from the Calavo team themselves. I know that the team is eager to be let loose on the show floor as well.
“We’re eager to connect with the industry in person. Not only does it give us the means to introduce Calavo’s programs, new products, and innovation to the industry, but also the opportunity to listen and find solutions for our customers and partners,” concludes Lindsay. “We plan to also partake in some of the fantastic content provided, including key sustainability initiatives and new industry innovation. Being sponsors of the Women’s Fresh Perspectives breakfast is also important to us in supporting the women in our industry.”
