Fresh Produce Association of the Americas Salutes Our Members, Heroes in the U.S. Food Supply Chain
NOGALES, AZ - Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, our industry has heroically stepped up to keep the flow of transportation and services in constant movement, allowing our community to carry on. Not a day has gone by where we at AndNowUKnow have not thanked these heroes, and the same can be said for Fresh Produce Association of the Americas (FPAA). Recently, the FPAA published an open letter, thanking the industry workers at large for their daily commitment and service to keep the U.S. food supply chain in tip-top shape.
“This is the commitment our members have lived up to for over a century. In times of war and peace, crisis and everyday life, the members of the FPAA know they are essential in delivering the fresh fruits and vegetables that fill grocery shelves and restaurant menus,” the letter stated. “From dispatchers to sales staff, warehouse experts and quality control supervisors, the men and women of the fresh produce industry in Southern Arizona, South Texas, and Southern California continue to show up each and every day for the American public.”
The letter also quotes Agriculture Secretary Sony Perdue, one of produce’s most valuable allies, as he thanks those on the frontlines in a personal video.
“Thank you so much for what you’re doing,” stated Secretary Perdue. “I know these are uncertain times, but I just want to tell you from my heart, as an American citizen, I am so grateful for what you’re doing. And I want to thank you for doing that.”
The FPAA continues to champion these essential workers while detailing the actions the association has taken to assist in the industry.
“The staff of the FPAA is acting diligently to assist our members in any way we can through this challenging time. We hold video meetings and answer questions,” continued the letter. “All the while, our members get up, show up, and take the steps they do so the U.S. food supply is secure and so that we all can find the foods we need to stay healthy when we shop.”
