Chilean Fresh Fruit Association Announces New Charter Vessel Service for Upcoming Season; Felipe Silva Comments
CHILE - Make way for the Blueberry Express! A new charter service to the United States market will begin in week 49 after an agreement was reached by Chilean fresh blueberry exporters. The service, boasting of a transit time of less than two weeks, will continue throughout the 2022-23 season.
"We are optimistic about the coming season in the U.S., which is the main market for Chilean blueberries and where we faced the greatest difficulties last season,” said Felipe Silva, Chief Executive Officer of Zur Group. “Charter vessels will allow us to reach our destination on time and with the condition required by our customers.”
Available to the entire industry, the Blueberry Express service includes charter ships, in which a percentage of the cargo will go in refrigerated warehouses. According to a press release, it guarantees the maintenance of the cold chain, which is crucial for protecting fruit quality.
The services at the port of destination will also guarantee a rapid flow to customers, which is a key element in achieving an optimal arrival of the fruit to the end consumer.
As more industry operators work toward transportation solutions, ANUK will be here to report.
