HOUSTON, TX - Brighter Bites is turning 10, and in celebration of this milestone birthday, the nonprofit organization hosted its first gala, where it raised $741,467. This exceeded its $500,000 campaign goal, and the money will go to supporting the company’s mission of helping under-resourced communities across the country have access to fresh produce and nutrition education.

“We’re thankful to all of the sponsors, donors, volunteers, partners, and employees who make our program possible,” said Lisa Helfman, Founder and Board Chair of Brighter Bites. “Without your dedication to this cause, we would not be able to celebrate 10 years of providing fresh food to under-resourced families across the nation. Your work is building a better future for generations to come.”

The gala was held at The Revaire on November 2, in Houston, Texas, a release explained. As part of the celebration, Scott McClelland of H-E-B spoke, with additional honorees and sponsors including Sysco, Taylor Farms, SUNSET®, Mission Produce, and its Board of Directors.

All proceeds raised during the 10^th Birthday Campaign and Gala will go toward nourishing families and children and teaching lifelong healthy eating habits.

“Throughout my tenure at H-E-B, it has been an honor to work alongside Brighter Bites, and to be included among the Board of Directors,” said McClelland, President of H-E-B. “I look forward to continuing to see this organization grow and make a lifelong difference with many more families and communities throughout the country.”

Continuing the celebration of its 10^th birthday, Brighter Bites is inviting everyone to join the cause to create more equitable communities that foster healthy minds and bodies. To do so, the nonprofit organization is asking all to consider making a gift on Giving Tuesday, November 29, 2022, by donating, volunteering, or partnering with Brighter Bites.
