International Fresh Produce Association Welcomes the 118th Congress at Capitol Hill; Robert Guenther Details
WASHINGTON, DC - Seeking to continue building strength across the fresh produce and floral supply chains, the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) recently took to Capitol Hill on January 3, to welcome new members of Congress and current congressional friends of IFPA.
“Building relationships with our elected officials is one of the most important things that we can do as an industry to advocate for the issues and policies that can help our industry serve our consumers and our world,” said IFPA’s Chief Public Policy Officer, Robert Guenther. “As the DC team is on Capitol Hill today greeting elected officials, we invite industry members to also take the opportunity to welcome our Members of Congress. Together, we can advocate for a strong produce and floral business environment to enhance prosperity and create a vibrant future for all.”
According to a press release, members of the government relations team visited both freshmen and returning members to begin and build the relationships essential to advancing the wide portfolio of issues critical to the fresh produce and floral supply chains.
Sharing ways to reach out to members of the 118th Congress, IFPA released a Member of Congress Engagement Checklist with its members earlier this week. Some of the suggestions featured in the checklist include:
- Send a personalized welcome email to your Members of Congress
- Share your voice on LinkedIn and Twitter, using the #FRESHCongress graphic and hashtag
- Sign up to meet with your Member of Congress and staff in your District in the beginning of 2023
The organization also advised its members to stay tuned for additional advocacy events being announced in the coming days, including the virtual Fresh Faces of Congress Meet & Greet Series.
“IFPA looks forward to working with the 118th Congress, their staff, and our members to find opportunities and solutions to challenges that are key to our industry’s continued growth and success,” said Guenther. “Stay tuned for additional advocacy events being announced in the coming days, including the virtual Fresh Faces of Congress Meet & Greet Series.”
