EFI Releases Toolkit to Help Industry Prepare for Farmworker Awareness Week; LeAnne Ruzzamenti Comments
WASHINGTON - Equitable Food Initiative, the workforce development and certification organization that partners with growers, farmworkers, retailers and consumer groups, invites companies and individuals to plan for National Farmworker Awareness Week next month by utilizing its comprehensive online toolkit to support meaningful engagement with this important occasion.
Farmworker Awareness Week, from March 25 to 31, is an opportunity to honor the invaluable contributions of farmworkers to the food supply chain and to raise awareness about the challenges they face. EFI’s toolkit provides companies, organizations and individuals with a variety of resources to participate and advocate for farmworker well-being.

The toolkit includes:
- Sample Proclamation: Encourage local politicians to issue the proclamation publicly to help raise awareness of the occasion and the invaluable work of our farmworkers.
- Social Media Graphics and Posts: Pre-designed visuals and sample captions make it easy to share messages of support and awareness across platforms.
- Educational Materials: Fact sheets, infographics, a children’s coloring page and printable signs highlight the essential role of farmworkers and the issues they encounter in the agricultural industry.
- Engagement Ideas: Tips for hosting events, sharing stories and promoting discussions that amplify farmworker voices.
As a press release noted, this year’s promotion will also feature success stories from companies that exemplify best practices in supporting farmworkers. Through these highlights, EFI aims to showcase organizations leading the way in ethical labor practices, fair treatment, and worker empowerment, offering inspiration and actionable examples for others to follow.

“Farmworker Awareness Week is a vital time to reflect on the people who make fresh, healthy food possible,” said LeAnne Ruzzamenti, Director of Marketing and Communications for EFI. “I encourage agricultural companies and organizations to find ways to celebrate their farmworkers internally and create communications to consumers and buyers that foster a deeper understanding of the labor that goes into the food we eat every day.”
