Awe Sum Organics' Gabe Avalos Discusses Organic Programs
SANTA CRUZ, CA - Awe Sum Organics—it’s all in the name. Among a bevy of coveted organic offerings, the quality-focused supplier is promising sweet, crunchy, and flavorful organic red and green seedless grapes from its growers in Southern Peru this season.
“Awe Sum Organics' Peruvian Organic Table Grapes offer our customers a full and reliable supply of high-quality organic grapes for loading on both coasts,” shares Gabe Avalos, General Manager. “We are the largest importer into the United States of organic table grapes from the Southern Hemisphere. Our Peruvian organic grape program is the largest and most advanced in Peru.”
The organic supplier’s Peruvian organic red and green seedless grapes have been in development since early 2007 when Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer David Posner dreamed of creating an organic table grape program for the winter months in the United States.
“Our high-quality and crisp, sweet flavor speak volumes,” Gabe continues. “We only grow new and improved varieties, mainly Sweet Globe and Sweet Celebration. Awe Sum Organics helps to fill the winter organic fruit void with nutritious and delicious organic table grapes from early December—when the California grape season is finishing up—through the end of April.”
Awe Sum Organics begins the winter organic grape season with grapes from Northern Peru and finishes with its Southern Peruvian organic grape production. Its growers’ organic table grape vineyards in Northern and Southern Peru combine to provide a good supply all winter long of high-quality red and green seedless grapes.
Complementing its table grape program, Awe Sum Organic Blueberries from Peru are brought in on express ships with direct service and very short transit time to both coasts.
“We have a full supply of Awe Sum Organic blueberries from our growers in Peru. We will be packing fresh into our Awe Sum Organics label here in the U.S. with capabilities to pack private label,” Gabe notes. “When domestic field production is over during the fall and winter months, we start our season with our Peruvian growers in early September.”
This fall, Awe Sum Organics will reintroduce California-grown organic oranges and lemons to its portfolio, with organic California lemons available year-round beginning in late August or early September.
“We’ll begin with the Lisbon variety, then move into the Eureka variety,” shares Gabe. “We plan to start our organic California Navel oranges in mid-October with the Fukumoto variety, move quickly into Atwoods and Fishers, and then transition to the Washington Navel, well known for their awe sum flavor, in January.”
Awe Sum Organics recently showcased this impressive portfolio at the Organic Produce Show in Monterey, California.
