Island Pacific Supermarket Plans First Location in San Francisco, California
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - When retail heats up in the Bay Area, you know ANUK is eyeing that newswire. Recent news cropped up regarding Island Pacific’s expansion in San Francisco, California. This will be the Filipino-American supermarket chain’s first location in the city.
According to reporting from The Real Deal, this store will serve a sizable Filipino population living nearby and will also be the chain’s fifth Bay Area location.
SFGate also reported that the retailer filed applications and a formula retail use request Monday, August 28. The proposed 33,910-square-foot store would feature a produce department, meat and seafood counter, and food court, among other amenities, according to planning documents.
One of the reasons this move has garnered attention is due to the proximity of another specialty grocer. Just over a mile away is H Mart, the popular Korean supermarket chain.
