SpartanNash Promotes Bennett Morgan to Executive Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer; Tony Sarsam Comments



GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Could it be? Another pivotal promotion guiding SpartanNash into its next growth streak? The food solutions company recently announced Bennett Morgan was promoted to the role of Executive Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer.

Bennett Morgan, Executive Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer, SpartanNashMorgan joined SpartanNash’s leadership ring in January 2022, taking over the role of Senior Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer. He is responsible for leading fresh, center store, and pharmacy merchandising; category management; pricing; promotions; and master data management, a press release noted.

Morgan’s previous expertise comes from Amazon, where the industry leader helped launch the retailer’s fast-growing omni-channel grocery business, including opening its first physical grocery stores across the country. During his time with Amazon, Morgan served as Amazon Fresh Category Leader, overseeing fresh as well as center store merchandising in different capacities over time.

He also brings experience from his time as Vice President, Merchandising for Walmart China and Japan, during which Morgan managed all non-buying portions of the merchandising organization. He also spent several years at H-E-B leading lean store operations, supply chain, manufacturing, and merchandising efforts.

Morgan earned his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master of Business Administration from Dartmouth College.

Morgan’s promotion shortly follows the recent announcement of two other key merchandising leaders, as Brandon Pasch was recently appointed Vice President, Center Store Merchandising and Arpen Shah has taken over the role of Vice President, Merchandising Strategy and Analytics.
