PROVIDENCE, RI - United Natural Foods, Inc.’s (UNFI) C-suite team is getting a shakeup with the announcement of Mario Maffie as the company’s new Chief Information Officer. Effective October 2, 2023, he will lead the distributor’s Information Technology (IT) team, oversee critical network systems integration work, and help accelerate the use of data and insights in support of customers and suppliers.

Maffie comes to UNFI from Mars Incorporated, where he most recently served as CIO since 2018, a release stated. In that role, he oversaw technology for corporate functions, including HR, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and others, as well as global technology capabilities like master data management, reporting and integration services and platforms, automation, supply chain, and global ERP.

In total, he spent 24 years with the company.

Prior to his CIO appointment, he served as Senior Director, Technology Strategy and Execution and in director roles supporting Global Technology Transformation and End User Technologies.

He brings a wealth of experience in strategy development and execution and is known for nurturing the talent of tomorrow.
