With the release of iOS 8.1.2, we’ve got 5 more tips to help improve your productivity. From quickly managing your e-mail to reaching your favorite contacts faster, check out these tricks to get the most out of your iPhone.
Quickly Manage Your E-mail
If you’re using the default Mail app, you can swipe from left to right to mark a message as being read. If you swipe from right to left, you can reveal a second menu that lets you either reply, forward, flag, mark as unread, move, or notify you of future messages in that particular conversation.
Quick Photos
If you’re texting someone using iMessage, pressing and holding the camera icon above the keyboard will bring up a menu to let you either quickly take a picture (swipe up) or record a video (swipe right).
See archived photos from text messages
Looking for an old picture you texted to a friend or colleague? Go into a conversation and tap on “Details” on the top right. You’ll see a gallery of all the old pictures that you’ve sent under “Attachments.”
Reach your favorite contacts faster
Meet the speed dial of the 21st century. Double click on the Home button to see a list of your favorite and most recent contacts on the top of the screen. To add someone to your favorites list, go to your Phone app and then tap on “Favorites.” From there, you can add anyone from your Contacts List.
Reachability (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ exclusive)
Still getting used to the iPhone 6’s larger screen size? Apple has introduced a new option to help users reach apps and other options with just one hand. Double tap (not double click) on the home button and the screen will shrink down.
iOS 8 is now available for iPhone 4S and above. To update your phone, go to Settings > General > Software Update
