CORAL GABLES, FL - Fresh Del Monte Produce announced the upcoming launch of its Rubyglow® pineapple in Europe, a product that has generated significant demand following its successful introductions in China and North America.

Set to hit European markets in early 2025, the Rubyglow pineapple features a striking red outer skin, bright yellow flesh, and a sweet flavor profile comparable to Del Monte Gold® Extra Sweet pineapples. After its initial launch in China in January 2024, the Rubyglow pineapple quickly garnered a global waitlist, leading to its North American launch in May 2024. The waitlist is now open across various European countries, and those on the list will be contacted once the product is available, as early as 2025.

According to a press release, this hybrid pineapple, grown in Costa Rica, represents over 15 years of development and is protected by a registered plant patent in the United States. It results from a traditional crossbreeding of a standard pineapple and an inedible Morada pineapple. Each Rubyglow pineapple takes two years to mature, ripening naturally on the plant and being sold crownless in elegantly designed packaging.

Fresh Del Monte has been at the forefront of pineapple innovation since the 1990s, introducing products such as the Del Monte Gold® Extra Sweet pineapple and others like the Pinkglow® and Honeyglow® pineapples. The Rubyglow pineapple is poised to be another milestone in the company’s robust pineapple program, enhancing its reputation as a leader in the global market.
