Lidl Plans to Open Largest Area Store in Long Island, New York
LONG ISLAND, NY - Germany-based retail chain Lidl has set its sights on the East Coast of the United States. As of next week, the grocer will be opening the doors of its newest location in the state of New York. Located in Deer Park, Long Island, the store will be Lidl’s largest in the region.
According to Long Island Business News, the store, standing at 32,000 square feet, is part of a $12 million project that is Lidl’s first ground-up store development on Long Island. The location will officially open its doors on Wednesday, January 18, with plans to employ over 50 people.
Ahead of the official opening, Lidl will host an open house on Tuesday, January 17, during which local community members will have the opportunity to take a sneak peek at the new store. Then, from January 18 to 22, Lidl will be donating $1 for every new myLidl member who signs up and sets the Deer Park location as their new home store to Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
The new store adds to Lidl’s portfolio of over 20 locations on Long Island, the news source stated. Property owner Milvado Property provided the ground lease to Lidl and was represented by Ken Schuckman and Jessica Vilmenay of Schuckman Realty.
