Mucci Farms Details Seed to Table Strategy at Southeast Produce Council's Southern Exposure; Stephen Cowan Discusses
ORLANDO, FL - Walking the show floor at Southeast Produce Council's Southern Exposure was a whirlwind—and we couldn't have been happier! Settling in to talk shop with our industry friends is what we live for, especially when we get to discuss what go-to-market strategies are behind some of the big names in the business.
I chatted with Stephen Cowan, Director of Retail Sales for Mucci Farms, to learn about how the greenhouse grower is joining up with its partners across the supply chain.
"We're from seed to table, right to the store counter for the consumer," Stephen told me, commenting immediately on the differentiation of partnering with a company like Mucci Farms. "We have recyclable packaging, we care about the environment, and we're farmers at heart."
Outside of its key categories, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, Mucci Farms has been cultivating its product portfolio to include strawberries and lettuce.
"We're sustainable, [use] no pesticides, and we do A to Z when it comes to the snacking category, as well," Stephen noted, which sparked my interest. Who doesn't want consumers chasing after fresh produce for their snacking needs?
In addition to its seed to table approach to business, Mucci Farms also has a new packaging format.
"We actually have linerless labels, which is eliminating the plastics. [...] So, we're giving the consumers the option: if they want to be into sustainability or the traditional plastic pack, which is also more recyclable," Stephen remarked on the move.
