Scattaglia Growers and Shippers Prepares for the Addition of Organic Stonefruit in 2024; Kira Navison Comments
KINGSBURG, CA - Underneath its umbrella, Scattaglia Growers and Shippers (SGS) has a network of grower partners that allows the company to bring delicious fruit to market—all while supporting the farmers who make it possible.
One of the lasting growers in SGS’ network is Kliewer Farms, a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated packing facility that has been in business for over 30 years.
“They grow and pack some of the most desired varieties of peaches, plums, kiwifruit, nectarines, grapes, and citrus in the produce industry, and they will be introducing an organic stonefruit lineup in 2024,” remarked Kira Navison, Director of Marketing, when I wanted to dive deeper. “The Kliewers view their staff as family and appreciate all of their hard work.”
Alongside valuing their workers, the Kliewers value sustainability.
“There are multiple solar panels on site, and their farm is SEDEX Certified, which is the social standard of business,” Kira added. “This social audit ensures that employees are treated well at their place of employment and that they are enjoying where they work. To move toward a better future, the Kliewers introduced an organic lineup, with an estimated 100,000 boxes of peaches, plums, and nectarines soon to be certified as organic. This three-year process will be complete and ready for market in the 2024 stonefruit season.”
It’s this kind of optimism in our industry that makes Kliewer Farms a valued partner in the grower network that makes up Scattaglia Growers and Shippers.
