Southeast Produce Council Announces Partnerships to Aid in Hurricane Ian Relief; Tim Graas and Michael Dukes Comment
MILLEN, GA - The Southeast coast of the United States was hit by Hurricane Ian at the end of September, and many in the industry felt the impacts. In response, the Southeast Produce Council (SEPC) made a donation of $10,000 to disaster relief organization Samaritan’s Purse, which is supporting Florida homeowners via units in Fort Myers, Englewood, and Punta Gorda.
“One of our SEPC pillars is helping those in need—whether that is through time, talent, or treasure,” said SEPC Chairman of the Board Tim Graas, Executive Director of Produce at Associated Wholesale Grocers. “We are committed to helping our neighbors during this difficult time, and we are proud to partner with Samaritan’s Purse, Society of St. Andrew, and The Farmlink Project to secure vital resources and deliver to those most in need.”
This donation is in addition to the SEPC Cares initiative, including aid efforts with Society of St. Andrew as well as The Farmlink Project, which provides fresh produce to those who have been affected.
SEPC member companies are encouraged to contribute to this cause in the following ways:
- For fresh produce donations, please contact Society of St. Andrew to arrange consolidation points to assist with this delivery
- For rejected loads, unmarketable produce, or excessive surplus, please contact The Farmlink Project who will arrange transportation from member company facilities or location of rejection

The need is tremendous and homeowners are at a loss for where to turn. Samaritan’s Purse staff and volunteers remain committed to serving as the hands and feet of Jesus to help those in their suffering. Again, we are grateful to co-labor in this response with the SEPC.”
The organization stated in a press release that it will continue to show support for its members, families, and communities who have been affected by this catastrophic event.
