POMPANO BEACH, FL - In recognition of its efforts to boost education, awareness, and consumption of fresh produce, Southern Specialties was announced as a recipient of the Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) Better Health Role Model Award.

Charlie Eagle, Vice President of Business and Development, Southern Specialties“We are delighted to be among the leading companies in our industry selected to receive this recognition on the 25th anniversary of PBH,” Charlie Eagle, Vice President of Business Development at Southern Specialties, said in a press release. “We believe the work they do truly makes a difference.”

The award was presented to the company at PBH’s annual meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona, on April 6th.

Southern Specialties commented that it works to increase nutritional awareness throughout its product line, including featuring PBH’s “More Matters” logo on its value-added packaging.

Other efforts include:

  • A 43 page nutrition guide, compiled by the company’s Administrator of Nutritional Marketing, Lana Chehabeddine, has been prepared to help educate customers.
  • Incorporating a variety of colors, flavors, and textures available in the Southern Selects microwave product line to increase consumption.
