Naturipe Farms Sees Boosted Blueberry Volume
SALINAS, CA - With an earlier start to the blueberry harvest year, Naturipe Farms is touting promotable volumes to meet increased consumption trends.
“We are now seeing optimal quality and production from Florida and Georgia,” said Mario Flores, Director of Blueberry Product Management. “Northern Florida and South Georgia’s southern highbush blueberry production has reached peak daily harvest and has promotable volumes for the domestic season. From today (week 16) through the next two weeks, the southeast will have good availability of quality, fresh blueberries.”
The company said in a recent release that ideal growing conditions are on the rise throughout the United States, and it offers promotion opportunities at retail to meet blueberry-hungry consumers.
“California production is gradually increasing,” Mario said as cool, wetter weather begins to subside for the state. “Albeit a bit later than last year, we expect volumes to ramp up the beginning of May and see the peak of harvest from the second week of May into the first week of June.”
Naturipe offers a variety of pack sizes to fit any retailer store’s needs, as the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council notes that blueberries are the only (fruit) expecting increased consumer consumption in 2017. To match that hike, the company suggested retailers plan accordingly with promotions for the southeast over the next three weeks, and mid-May through June for California.
As we progress further into the spring season, AndNowUKnow will continue to update on all trending categories in fresh produce.
