“The Index Fresh brand means quality and consistent avocados all year long,” said Keith Blanchard, Index Fresh Field Manager. “As a California company, the opening of our state’s harvest season is cause for excitement. Our number one job is providing expertise and personal service to growers and customers who rely on us for always showcasing the premium quality and local availability that define California avocados by Index Fresh.”

The company’s vast network of growers and customers spent the offseason preparing for the coming months of picking, packing, and marketing only the highest quality fruit. As a press release noted, Index Fresh expects its California avocado supply to remain consistent in crop size and availability. This high quality and good sizing are a result of a balance of ample rain and nourishing sunshine in the grower’s growing region.

In addition to the popular Hass avocado, Index Fresh will supply California GEM avocados this season from April through July.

Cultural practices in the field and strategic regional growing partners allow Index to deliver dependable volumes year-over-year so that consumers can always expect a successful and bountiful California avocado season, the release added.

“A lot of it comes down to cultural practices. We’ve proven over time that the little things—timely size picking, pruning, canopy management—out in the field add up and make a huge difference in production,” Blanchard said. “Our agronomist continues to help Index Fresh growers achieve consistent yields, year after year, which in turn lets consumers know that the California season will deliver for them.”

According to the California Avocado Commission, the 2024 California avocado season will yield just over 200 million pounds, compared to an average of 250 million in previous seasons.

Index Fresh anticipates having promotable volumes of fresh California avocados available for market by mid-March, bringing ample opportunities for Cinco de Mayo and BBQ season.
