Catania Worldwide's Mario Masellis Discusses Current Citrus Market
ONTARIO, CANADA - This summer, you can find me poolside sipping on a glass of fresh lemonade. No pool? No problem. This citrusy infusion is sure to keep me cool, calm, and collected all season long. For those looking to keep their citrus sets fully stocked this summer, Catania Worldwide is ensuring that supplies keep flowing as we move toward July.
“We are beginning the Southern Hemisphere program,” said Mario Masellis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Quality is yet to be determined, and volumes are looking normal. The market is steady in terms of volumes, but delays in shipping are causing small gaps.”
As Mario told me, early indication is showing that there could be some issues with rain in certain areas. However, Catania is working to mitigate any potential challenges in order to bring a consistent supply to its customers.
“Pricing for citrus from the Southern Hemisphere is slightly lower due to increased volumes available and favorable foreign exchange rates,” Mario noted. “Pricing is being affected by transportation costs and fuel surcharges.”
Whether you’re arranging the perfect orange set or sipping on some refreshing lemonade, the citrus category is sure to bring ample opportunities this summer. For more of the latest news in fresh produce, stick with us at ANUK.
