Costco Acquires Land in San Antonio, Texas
SAN ANTONIO, TX - Once you get the ball rolling, there is no telling when it will slow down. Having recently announced its testing of a curbside pickup program, Costco is on the move with what looks like new expansion plans, this time in acquiring prime land in San Antonio, Texas. With the recent acquisition, speculations of a new store follow, taking root on the far West Side of the city.
The 16.44-acre property was purchased by the retailer and is located at the corner of Loop 1604 and Potranco Road in San Antonio, according to an article from MySA. The location is housed between a Walmart Supercenter and the Shops at Dove Creek.
While a Costco spokesperson perviously told the news source the company does not comment on future warehouses until it is ready to share details, a 160,620 square-foot building is expected at the location, featuring an open canopy and a gas station, according to recent filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
If confirmed, the new store will join the ranks of retailers like H-E-B, Walmart, and Five Below, as the region has seen a boom in growth recently.
As Costco continues to drive forward its growing expansion strategy, what will be the next move for the retailer? AndNowUKnow will continue to go in search of answers.
