KINGSVILLE, ON – Coming off the heels of a successful United Fresh in Chicago, Mucci Farms has announced that its Smuccies strawberries left its own impression at the event as Mucci’s Smuccies were named Best New Fruit in the Produce Innovation Competition. 

“We are confident that Smuccies are all about quality,” said Emily Murracas, Marketing Manager. “They have exceptional flavor, they are esthetically perfect, and the packaging and design is unique, appealing, and sustainable.”

In addition to this award, Mucci’s also announced an expansion to its strawberry production with an additional 12-acre range, which will equal a total of 16 acres for the company. Mucci will attach this acreage to a 40,000-square-foot pre-cooling and packing warehouse, according to a press release, and the greenhouse is expected to be ready for harvest this October. 

“We are "berry" excited to announce that Greenhouse Grown Smuccies, sweet strawberries will always be in season, with year-round production,” finished Murracas.

The company stated in a press release that its Smuccies are new to the market, and have already been recognized with back to back awards as the product won Best New Freggie Approved Award at this year’s recent CPMA Convention. 

Mucci plans to continue its commitment to growing fresh, flavorful greenhouse products with its Smuccies and Naked Leaf line of living lettuce and herbs. Mucci’s Naked Leaf was also a finalist in the Produce Innovation Competition at United Fresh.
