ONTARIO, CANADA - Spill the Greens—it’s all right there in the name. Since the podcast’s inception in 2020, Mucci Farms has been harnessing this wide-reaching channel to bridge the gap between consumers and the supply-side, and with great success. As our inaugural Besties Awards kicked off earlier this year, we were incredibly excited to honor Mucci Farms for its innovative efforts to bring valuable insights to light, arming consumers and everyday people with vital knowledge about controlled environment agriculture and the fresh produce industry.

Ajit Saxena, Public Relations and Digital Marketing Manager, Mucci Farms“We were excited to find out that we received the inaugural Bestie for Best Podcast. It means a great deal to us as we continue to expand our communication strategy and establish our footing in the podcasting world,” said Ajit Saxena, Public Relations and Digital Marketing Manager. “We don’t just want to grow great fruits and vegetables—we also want to grow our company and our industry. Our podcasting efforts are one piece of the puzzle that helps us continue on our mission to be North America’s preferred supplier.”

The Spill the Greens podcast takes an inventive approach to bridging the information and education gap around greenhouse farming, covering topics from growing to logistics, supply, innovation and tech, sustainability, food safety, marketing, and more.

We recently relished in the opportunity to honor Mucci Farms and its “Spill the Greens” podcast with an inaugural Besties Award for Best Podcast (Pictured above: Ajit Saxena and Bert Mucci)

With listeners in over 300 cities across 30 different countries, the exciting and informative podcast has already garnered over tens of thousands of streams.

“Our marketing team is always searching for the best ways to broaden our reach and raise awareness of our industry and company. One of the goals behind Spill The Greens was to utilize our knowledgeable staff to provide information about controlled environment agriculture,” Ajit explains. “The long-form podcast format gives us the ability to have full-length conversations with experts that can provide detailed responses to common questions so our audience can see the entire picture of a given topic.”

In addition to humanizing Mucci Farms as a company, the “Spill the Greens” podcast takes an inventive approach to bridging the information and education gap around greenhouse farming

The Spill The Greens podcast also seeks to humanize Mucci Farms as a company, allowing its customers, partners, and community members to see it as more than a brand, but as a family of co-workers committed to creating a healthier society. This is achieved through a variety of episodes that showcase its technical expertise, community relations efforts, career development, and more.

“Before the internet and social media, growers had limited access to consumers and often had to rely on retailers to provide insight on consumer behavior, demand, and trends. In modern times, not only do we have direct access to consumer feedback, we also have an immense opportunity to really share what our company and industry are all about,” adds Ajit.

“Our research showed that the podcasting space was outpacing all other online media by a wide margin. During the pandemic, podcasts really exploded, and we were fortunate to have the in-house expertise to produce a great show with compelling guests. It was also a lot easier to convince teammates to get on audio as some people are very shy on camera," Ajit continued. "Most people have minimal knowledge about our industry or our efforts to address major global issues in society including climate change, food security, and sustainability. With people listening to podcasts more than AM/FM radio, it was clear that was the best way for us to discuss a variety of topics at length for a captive audience.”

The podcast can be found at spillthegreens.com as well as on other major podcast platforms like Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and more.

It is such an honor to spotlight our friends at Mucci Farms for blending creativity and consumer education through this fun and resourceful platform! Congratulations team!
