California Volume Gives Slow Avocado Uptick; USDA and The Source Report Markets Still Tight

MEXICO & CALIFORNIA - California avocados are entering the season, with arrival much-anticipated by the market.
As PRO*ACT’S The Source recently showed, markets remain high with size structure peaking at 60 ct and smaller, higher pricing noted for 48 ct-plus.
While Mexico’s season is year-round, elevated markets will persist until relief, according to the report. California's season, which runs from April through July, is ramping up, but limited harvest was expected initially due to rain in the Golden State. However, the squeeze did loosen the past several days, sources shared with ANUK, for a more optimistic tone to the market than this time last week.
While volumes still remain tighter, good quality looks to be fueling a demand that is outpacing the market.
The USDA’s most recent market report out of California’s Los Angeles Terminal lists California Hass 32s of fair quality at 54.00-55.00; lower 36s of fair quality at 53.00-55.00; 40s of fair quality at 53.00-55.00; and 60s of fair quality at 48.00-50.00, occasional higher/lower fine appearance of 64.00-65.00.
Mexico Hass held steady at the below numbers according to USDA:
