Farmstead Enters Florida Market
MIAMI, FL - The Golden State seems to be adding even more shine to Sunshine State as California-based online grocer Farmstead has announced that it will be staking its claim to the Miami, Florida, market. The company has officially opened its waitlist for residents who are interested in being among the first to trial its app-based delivery services.
"Miami needs an option like Farmstead. Other grocery-delivery services come with high markups and fees, but Farmstead makes grocery delivery less expensive than going to the store yourself, putting delivery within reach of most households," Farmstead Founder and CEO Pradeep Elankumaran told Miami New Times in a statement.
In making this pivotal move out-of-state, Farmstead is becoming one of the first online grocers to expand across the country, this comes following its recent move into Raleigh, North Carolina, and Nashville, Tennessee.
The new Farmstead Miami waitlist signup is now available to the first 1,000 customers on a first-come, first-served basis. The Miami service is expected to begin starting in late March or early April and will be available to the majority of Miami-Dade County and parts of Broward County.
Farmstead was founded in San Franciso in 2018, and uses AI technology to offer fresh, high-quality items free of delivery charges and in some cases at lower cost than local supermarkets. In doing so, the online grocer is aiming to reinvent the food retail space, while also reducing food waste by making locally sourced food accessible to all.
Farmstead uses dark warehouses to execute its business model, saving on labor costs and adding to the efficiency of the company. The company currently employs about 100 people per region, and can stock and deliver 3,000 to 5,000 different items, which consist of prominent local brands, fresh produce, meats, seafood, and dairy.
