Brighter Bites Teams Up With Produce Marketing Association to Help Foodservice Conference Guests Give Back; Cathy Burns Discusses
NEWARK, DE - Produce Marketing Association (PMA) is continuing to bolster the foodservice industry at its upcoming PMA Foodservice Conference & Expo in Monterey, California, and it is doing so with its strategic partner, Brighter Bites. As part of the highly anticipated event, Brighter Bites is helping our industry supply fresh produce to those in need, recently announcing that all registered attendees can also sign up for the organization’s networking and volunteer experience.
“For anyone who will be in Monterey for the Foodservice Conference, I’d like to encourage them to sign up for the Brighter Bites volunteer experience,” said PMA CEO Cathy Burns. “It’s one thing to hear PMA share the incredible work Brighter Bites does to get fresh produce into the hands of families; it’s another to see this in action. I am looking forward to being part of this and hope many in our community will consider joining us.”
PMA Foodservice Conference will take place from July 21–22. Brighter Bite’s volunteer experience will be held on Wednesday, July 21, from 9:30–1:30 p.m. (PDT) and will offer 40 volunteers an opportunity to play a part in the organization’s program. Volunteers will participate in onsite bagging, distribution, and the fun food program at La Gloria Elementary School. The program is designed to provide attendees an inside look at how fresh produce is distributed to those in need, with an opportunity to see firsthand the benefits of bringing it to local families’ hands—all while networking with other Foodservice Conference attendees.
As part of the experience, transportation will be provided along with a box lunch for all volunteers. Participation is limited and volunteer slots will fill quickly. For those interested, volunteers must also be registered for PMA’s Foodservice Conference.
According to the release, PMA and Brighter Bites have been strategic partners for years, joining in the effort to drive consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables while also helping to remove barriers to access. Most recently, PMA featured Lisa Helfman, Founder and Board Chair of Brighter Bites, at the Growing a Healthier World Challenge kick-off event on April 19.
Have you registered yet for PMA Foodservice? Time is running out, and we can’t wait to see you there!
