Vanguard International Prepares for Stonefruit Season
ISSAQUAH, WA - Summer 2019 is officially here (though in some areas the weather would beg to differ), and with it comes stonefruit season—a.k.a my favorite season. This year, Vanguard International has reported that this year’s harvest is shaping up to be a great one for driving category sales and satisfying eager stonefruit-loving consumers, like me!
“We are expecting a beautiful crop of peaches and nectarines for the 2019 growing season. We are excited to provide our customers with the best quality and eating experience with our tree ripened program,” said Brett Calhoun, General Manager, Vanguard Pride. “New varieties include Rich Pride peach, which is a yellow flesh that is rounder in shape and provides great taste.”
While the weather wasn’t cooperating in California, Vanguard has seen good climates in its growing regions, resulting in a robust cherry operation set to harvest mid-June.
“We always look forward to cherry season and are thrilled at the forecast for this year’s harvest at Vanguard Pride,” Craig Stauffer, CEO, Vanguard International, commented in a press release. “The perishability of cherries drives the need to be extra careful during farming, harvesting, packing, cooling, and shipping and Vanguard Pride is well-equipped with best in class logistics and operations to meet retailer and customer’s needs and requirements.”
Vanguard Pride’s marketing, sales, and distribution of its fruit is handled by Sage Fruit Company as part of Vanguard’s global growth mission to supply its customers with quality-assured produce throughout the entire year. Sage Fruit’s marketing and promotion focus is on Vanguard Pride’s Washington State cherries, apples, apricots, pears, nectarines, and peaches.
